Opening hours

The decision by the Swedish government to prohibit public events and gatherings of more than 500 people does not apply to Borås Zoo.
The Zoo has over 40 hectares of large, outdoor spaces, making it possible to remain at a distance from others in the same way as when walking in forests and rural areas. We are therefore pleased to be able to welcome visitors to our beautiful park this spring.

The safety and well-being of our guests, staff and animals is our priority and we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure their continued welfare. Like many other institutions, we are closely monitoring the situation regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and are following the guidelines from the Swedish Public Health Agency and Region Västra Götaland. Based on the current advice from the health authorities, our business can operate as normal and standard conditions for visiting the Zoo continue to apply.

Most of our park consists of large outdoor spaces. We have strict cleaning routines and plenty of toilet facilities for our guests where it is possible to wash your hands frequently during the day. Our park has ample space for strolling around in the fresh air and finding a spot to enjoy a picnic if you choose to bring your own food.

We follow the Public Health Authority’s directives and provide food service over the counter and ensure that there is plenty of space between each company in our restaurant. We have increased the cleaning frequency and all toilets are available for hand washing. In our kiosks you are able to shop through the hatch and there are plenty of picnic tables available to eat both own brought food as well as purchased food.

We assure you that we are working proactively to reduce the risk of infection during your visit to Borås Zoo, and reviewing infection control practices and cleaning procedures throughout the entire site. We assure you that we will continue to respond quickly where we have a duty to do so and take all necessary measures to protect the health and safety of our visitors, staff and animals.

We ask all our visitors to respect and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene when visiting Borås Zoo. There are some simple things you can do to prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Avoid touching your face and eyes and avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and hot water, especially after going to the toilet and before eating and drinking.
  • A hand sanitiser can be used as an extra precaution. There are plenty of facilities in the park where you can wash your hands.
  • Always cough or sneeze into your elbow or a paper tissue to prevent the virus from spreading to others and to avoid contaminating your hands
  • Stay at home if you are feeling unwell to avoid passing the infection on to anyone else.
